I recently received a memo from the President of Maggie Sottero- I feel so strongly about his message that I wanted to add it to my website.
There is a pressing matter affecting our industry that deserves top billing in this Maggie Memo. Its COUNTERFEITING! or more specific to our industry, FASHION PIRACY is reaching the crisis stage because it poses a very real threat to legitimate businesses at every level of the supply chain..designers, suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, distributors etc.
Fashion pirates operate in a variety of ways, some conspicuous, others not. In general, they plagiarize the creative work of genuine designers, quickly and cheaply make low quality copies, aggressively pomote the products via print media, websites or email, and ship them around the globe to compete with the original designs, often before the originals make it to market. Some bear the labels of the authentic designer, others don't.
We've all been exposed to 'knock off" products...a Rolex watch, gucci bags etc. but Pirates are taking dead aim at Maggie Sottero and competitor styles. "Chardonnay", "Stevie", "Victoriana" and "Fiorella", for exaple, have all shown up on the "knock off" parade. If left unchecked, the practice threatens the survival of legitimate businesses, like ours!
Maggie Sottero is actively directing resources into legal and legislative channels in an effort to stem this relentless tide of fraud and deception. We enlist your support by: A. Remembering that if it looks too good or inexpensive to be true chances are its a fake! Don't Do it!
B. Remember that if you're not getting it directly from a Maggie Sottero dealer it is not legitimate!
C. Voice our concerns regarding thes matter to your legislators.

***It is so important to keep your money local- I have had 3 girls just this summer say they ordered dresses on line that were supposed to be "Maggie" gowns and turned out to be horrible fakes. Maggie gowns are not available on-line, they have to be purchased through a "brick and mortor" dealer.
